KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams continued day two of the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday as the Belles sit in second place while the Rams are in third.
The Belles picked up two conference championships, finishing the day with 73 team points while the Rams ended the day with 42 points.
Maricia Spence continued to dominate in the heptathlon as she took first overall with 5,316 points to claim the conference title.
Abby Zamzow came in second overall, finishing with 4,972 points while
Allison Vaughn finished in sixth with 4,121 points.
Also earning a conference title was
Antonija Radic, who won the women's high jump with a mark of 1.74m (5'-8.5").
The Belles had several runners advanced to finals out of their events as
Lexi Jackson finished third in the preliminaries of the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.62.
Shiean Walters and
Zykia McDaniel finished third and fourth respectively in the 400-meter run with times of 56.26 and 56.79.
Also advancing to the finals was
Hannah Porter in the 100-meter dash (11.79) along with
Maricia Spence (1:02.35) and
Alana Holloway (1:04.62) in the 400-meter hurdles.
Mary Brown picked up a point for her team in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 12:25.37.
For the Rams,
Kyle Lumpkins ended the decathlon with 6,901 points to take second overall while
Creed Goode finished in fifth with 6,435 points.
Cason Brown took third overall in the discus with a toss of 52.72m (172'-11") while
Elvis Kryukov finished in seventh with a mark of 46.59m (152'-10").
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Robert Neeley finished in 10:04.61 to take seventh overall in the event.
Nicholas Ellisor and Emmett Seals finished second and third in the preliminaries of the 400-meter run with times of 48.89 and 48.68 to advance to the finals while
David Morgan came in fifth in the 100-meter dash at 10.49.
The Rams had four members advance in the 400-meter hurdles as
Romel Plummer took second in the preliminaries with a time of 52.71 followed by
Ryan Scalet in fifth,
Jesus Rocha in sixth, and Lumpkins in seventh.
ASU will conclude the LSC championship meet tomorrow with events beginning at 11 a.m.
