ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Angelo State track & field teams completed day one of the UNM Team Open on Friday hosted by New Mexico in the Albuquerque Convention Center.
The Rams were led by
JoeMarcus Mireles who finished first overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.96. In the long jump, Josh Body and
Kyle Lumpkins finished ninth and 10
th respectively, both hitting a mark of 1.91m (6'-3.25").
Also finishing in the top 10 for ASU was
Emmett Seals Jr. who took 10
th overall in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line at 21.86.
For the 11
th-ranked Rambelles,
Shiean Walters finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.85 followed by Fatoumata Kabo (24.96) in fifth and
Zykia McDaniel (25.10) in ninth.
Kylyie Paden took fifth overall in the women's pole vault, clearing a height of 3.37m (11'-0.75") while
Maricia Spence was 10
th in the long jump at 5.68m (18'-7.75").
Both teams continue competition at the UNM Team Open tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m.
