ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Angelo State track & field teams tallied four provisional marks on the final day of the UNM Team Open hosted by New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Saturday afternoon.
Shiean Walters placed fourth overall in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 55.17 to earn a provisional. She now ranks fifth overall in Division II with that time.
Zykia McDaniel finished eighth overall in the event, running 57.15 which narrowly missed the provisional time of 57.03.
Maricia Spence earned her third provisional mark of the season on Saturday, taking 10
th overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.73. Also earning a provisional was
Allison Vaughn who finished 12
th overall in the women's triple jump with an attempt of 11.77m (38'-7.5").
In section A of the women's pole vault,
Camryn Barros earned a 10
th-place finish after clearing a height of 3.67m (12'-0.5").
On the men's side, Ossama Elbouchayby finished second overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.81 to claim a provisional.
Thombias Moy and
Joshua Body took seventh and eighth overall respectively in the men's triple jump with marks of 13.75m (45'-1.5") and 13.68m (44'-10.75").
Simon Rey finished ninth overall in the shot (13.58m | 44'6.75"), while
Jacobee Jones also finished ninth in section A of the men's pole vault (4.67m | 15'-3.75").
Kyle Lumpkins earned a sixth-place finish in the finals of the men's 60-meter hurdles, running a time of 8.32, just shy of a provisional mark.
The Rams and Belles will take next week off before competing at the final regular-season indoor meet at Texas Tech's Jarvis Scott Open beginning Friday, Feb. 10.
*Provisional Mark - An athlete who earns a provisional mark could qualify for the national meet depending on the rest of the field for that event. The approximate field size for indoor is 16 competitors taken from a list of provisional marks in descending order.
