Lloyd's Triple-Double Lift Rambelles Past Beavers

BILLINGS, MONT - The Angelo State women's basketball team kept things close for the first quarter, but a 28-7 run put the game out of reach for Minot State as they fell 83-68 at the Alterowitz Gym this afternoon.
 
40 MINUTE RUNDOWN
  • The Rambelles and Beavers went back and forth during the opening quarter of the contest, a three-pointer by Jamie Skeggs gave the Beavers a one-point lead going into the second quarter.
  • Blakely Gerber, Sawyer Lloyd, and Keniah Williams scored four points each in the first quarter.
  • A Sawyer Lloyd fast break layup started a 28-7 run that extended into the third quarter to bring the lead up to 53-38 at the 5:18 marker in the third quarter.
  • The Beavers would return with its offensive run and get a layup and two three-pointers to bring the deficit down to 9, 55-46 at the 3:15 minute marker.
  • Sawyer Lloyd, Landry Morrow, and Madisen Honea would each hit a trey consecutively to bring the Rambelles lead to 64-46 going into the final quarter.
  • The Rambelles would go on a 22-7 run to bring the lead to 80-53, the largest deficit of the night at the 4:08 marker of the fourth quarter.
  • The Beavers would go on a 15-3 run to end the behind six points from Maya Aguilar.
 
GAME STATS
  • Lloyd led the way for the Rambelles, recording a triple-double with 18 points, ten rebounds, and 13 assists.
  • Tay Pleasant put 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Madeline Stephens put up eight points and 13 rebounds.
  • The Belles had five players in double-digit scoring: Lloyd (18), Morrow (10), Pleasant (12), Williams (11), and Merket (10). 
  • Rambelles shot 39 percent (30-77) from the field, 35 percent (10-28) from behind the arc, and 72 percent (13-18) from the free throw line.
  • The Rambelles outrebounded the Beavers  in the matchup, 59-39, including 20 offensive boards.
  • The Blue and Gold would have 32 points in the paint compared to the 22 by the Beavers.
  • The Belles would run wild, having 21 fast break points compared to the five of the Beavers.

The Rambelles head to Denton, Texas for the TWU Conference Challenge. The Belles will face MSU Denver on Friday, with the first tip scheduled for 4 p.m.
