LAWTON, Okla. – The fifth-ranked Angelo State baseball team opened the series against Cameron with a win, downing the Aggies 7-0 at McCord Field on Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Rams improve to 5-0 overall and in Lone Star Conference play.
Tayten Tredaway started the scoring for the Rams in the first inning, hitting a single to left field to score
Jackson Hardy for the early lead.
The Rams added three runs in the third inning, scoring on back-to-back doubles by
Jordan Williams and Tredaway followed by a triple from
Tripp Clark to make it 4-0.
Aaron Munson started on the mound for the Rams, tossing five shutout innings with three hits and 10 strikeouts. He earns his second win of the season to improve to 2-0.
Angelo State extended the lead in the fifth inning as Tredaway collected his third RBI of the game, flying out to center field to bring home Hardy. The scoring continued in the eighth as
Weston Valasek hit an RBI groundout while
Austin Beck scored from third on a pickle play at second.
Throwing in relief was
Jackson Berry who threw two innings of work with no runs off of one hit and three strikeouts.
Tredaway and Clark led the Rams with two hits each while Hardy came around to score three times on the day.
The Rams and Aggies will continue the series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
