LAWTON, Okla. – The fifth-ranked Angelo State baseball team tallied a doubleheader sweep of Cameron on Saturday afternoon, winning 10-2 and 12-0 at McCord Field.
The Rams now hold a 7-0 overall record to start the year.
GAME ONE:
The Rams jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Tripp Clark singled for the opening run of the game before Austin Beck forced a bases-loaded walk and a groundout by Weston Valasek brought in the third run.
Valasek continued his success at the plate, bringing in another run in the third with a double to left field before coming around to score on an error to make it 5-0.
Kade Bragg started on the mound for Angelo State, throwing four 2/3 innings with four hits and two runs to go along with six strikeouts. He earns the win to improve to 2-0 on the mound this season.
The Rams poured it on in the fourth, scoring five runs including two off a home run from Tayten Tredaway and a two-RBI single by Valasek.
Jude Cook threw two innings of relief with only one hit and two strikeouts.
GAME TWO:
Braxton Pearson started on the hill for the Rams and help the Aggies to only one hit in the contest. Pearson threw seven complete innings giving up only one baserunner while striking out 10 batters.
Kamden Kelton walked in the first run of the game in the second inning with the bases loaded.
ASU jumped out ahead in the third inning, putting up 10 total runs to make it 11-0. Thomas Cain and Jackson Hardy both hit two-RBI doubles while Valasek hit his second triple of the season to bring in two more runs.
Bringing in the last run of the game was Rance Rosas who singled to left field to score Clark.
The Rams will close out the series against the Aggies tomorrow with game four scheduled for 1 p.m.
