LUBBOCK, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams wrapped up day one of the Jarvis Scott Open hosted by Texas Tech at the Sports Performance center on Friday night.
Coryn Peters started things off for the 12th-ranked Belles with a third-place finish in section B of the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.41m (11'-2.25"). Following her was
Kylyie Paden in seventh (3.26m | 10'-8.25") and
Katelyn Bohensky in eighth (3.06m | 10'-0.50").
Taking fifth overall in the women's long jump was
Abby Zamzow who hit a provisional mark at 5.68m (18'-7.75"), coming up just short of her season best at 5.83m. Also hitting a provisional mark was
Shadae Findley who finished fifth in the 400-meter run with a time of 54.87.
The Belles had four runners qualify for the second round of the 60-meter hurdles with
Anna Riccomagno leading the way with a time of 9.04. Riccomagno also finished ninth overall in section B of the long jump, hitting a mark of 5.43m (17'-9.75").
For the Rams,
Pacer Hill claimed sixth overall in section B of the men's pole vault, clearing a height of 4.61m (15'-1.5") to earn the best finish out of all Division II competitors.
David Morgan qualified for the second round of the men's 60-meter dash, crossing the finishing line at 6.88, narrowly missing out on a provisional mark.
Cade Swinburn took 20
th overall in section B of the long jump, clearing a distance of 6.42m (21'-0.75") while
Kyle Lumpkins was 21
st in the qualifying round of the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.46.
ASU will be back in action tomorrow with day two of the Jarvis Scott Open beginning at 10 a.m.
