LUBBOCK, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams collected six provisional marks on the weekend as the Rams and No. 12 Rambelles competed at the Jarvis Scott Open hosted by Texas Tech at the Sports Performance Center.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team set a new season best as
Shiean Walters,
Zykia McDaniel,
Maricia Spence, and
Shadae Findley ran a time of 3:41.65 to finish fourth overall, narrowly finishing behind only BYU, Texas Tech at TCU. The Belles now rank second overall in all of Division II in the event.
Kabo Fatoumata also earned a provisional after taking fourth overall in section B of the 200-meter dash, running a time of 24.64. Finishing ninth in the women's high jump ws
Kylyie Paden who cleared a height of 1.60m (5'-3").
On the men's side,
Oussama Elbouchayby picked up a provisional mark in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line at 1:50.29 to finish seventh overall in the event. The men's 4x400-meter relay team featuring Elbouchayby, Emmet Seals Jr., Charles Frimpong, and
Jonathan Ramirez finished seventh overall with a provisional time of 3:14.61.
Jacobee Jones improved his provisional in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.91m (16'-1.25") to finish 10
th overall. Right behind him was
Simon Rey in 12
th (4.76m | 15'-7.25") while
Cole Paxton took seventh in the shot put with a toss of 14.28m (46'-10.25").
The Rams and Belles will prepare for the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships next week, beginning on Saturday, Feb. 18 back in Lubbock.
