SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team extended their winning streak on their home court to 12 with a 70-64 win over UT Tyler on Saturday afternoon.
The win propels the Rams to 22-5 on the season and 18-3 in conference play.
Today was senior day, and the Rams' starting lineup featured their four seniors –
Devaughn Thomas,
Tre Mitchell,
Fredelin De La Cruz, and
Steve Webb – who combined for 42 points in the win.
The Rams shot 46.3 percent from the field and 45 percent from three; the Rams' defense forced the Patriots into 18 turnovers and held the Patriots to 23.8 percent shooting from deep.
Kevon Godwin led all players with 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting. Godwin made three threes, grabbed four rebounds, and assisted a team-high five times.
De La Cruz fell one rebound shy of a double-double with a 17-point, nine-rebound performance. He also grabbed a team-high four steals.
Willie Guy, the only non-senior in the starting lineup, scored ten points and recorded three assists.
Seniors Thomas and Webb scored seven and two points, respectively. Thomas blocked a pair of shots while Webb grabbed three rebounds.
The Rams close their regular season on Thursday when they host UT Permian Basin.
