SAN ANGELO – After a disappointing weekend to open Lone Star Conference play, the Angelo State softball team looks for a bounce back this Tuesday and Wednesday in Odessa against UT Permian Basin. Tuesday will feature a single game at 4 p.m., and Wednesday will be a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
The Rambelles are 8-6 on the season and 0-3 in conference play.
Offensively, the Rambelles are hitting .291 as a team; they have hit 16 home runs and average 5.1 runs per game. As a team, they are third in the country in home runs and second in stolen bases.
Ashlyn Lerma leads the team with a .450 batting average and leads the country with 20 stolen bases on the season.
Paxton Scheurer is hitting .362 with five home runs and 13 RBIs; she is slugging .723 on the season.

Torrey Hogan is coming off a weekend in which she threw 11.1 innings against the Lady Buffs. She allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out 12 batters over 163 pitches. On the season, she has a 2.31 ERA with an opposing batting average of .226.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
UT Permian Basin is 3-8 on the season and 0-3 in conference play; they are coming off a road sweep against Cameron to open conference play, with all three matchups being run rules.
The Falcons are hitting .267 as a team, led by Stephanie Jimenez's .375 average. The junior infielder leads the conference with six home runs on the season, slugging 1.167.
The Falcons' pitching staff has an 8.35 ERA, with 50 strikeouts in 60.1 innings. They are led by Destini Trahan, who has racked up 22 strikeouts in 19.2 innings.
The Rambelles are 30-2 against the Falcons, dating back to 2009, and have won the last six matchups. Last season in Odessa, the Rambelles won both matchups against the Falcons, claiming 4-2 and 11-8 victories.
