Lawton, Okla. – The Angelo State men's basketball team snapped their two-game losing skid on Thursday evening against Cameron with a nice 69-58 victory over the Aggies on their home court.
The game saw the Rams struggle offensively early on, only scoring ten points in the first 13 minutes of action; however, from that point on, the Rams went on a 17-4 run to reclaim the lead going into the half. The second half saw both team battle back-and-forth before the Rams ultimately pulled away to claim the win.
The Rams shot 42.2 percent from the field and 37 percent from three; they also committed only eight turnovers and assisted 15 times.
Kevon Godwin led all players with 22 points, making three three-pointers while also grabbing a team-high six rebounds and two steals. It's Godwin's second game in a row scoring 22 points and his fourth-consecutive 20-point performance.
He has scored 20 or more points ten times this season for the Rams.
Reggie Quezada joined his teammate in double digits with 15 points, making four threes; the New York native also assisted five times.
Devaughn Thomas scored nine points, while
Willie Guy assisted a game-high six times.
The Rams' defense held the Aggies to 37.5 percent shooting from the field and 26.3 percent from deep; the Rams forced the Aggies into 13 turnovers.
The Rams improve to 19-5 on the season and 15-3 in conference play. The Rams' 15 LSC wins are tied for the most in program history, previously also accomplished in the 2019-20 season.
Angelo State closes its road schedule on Saturday against Midwestern State, who is coming off a 65-59 win over UT Permian Basin on Thursday night.
