SAN ANGELO – Coming off a successful 4-2 week in which they claimed a pair of Lone Star Conference series wins over UT Permian Basin and (rank) UT Tyler, the Angelo State softball team looks to keep the momentum heading in the right direction as they hit the road to Wichita Falls for a three-game series against Midwestern State.
The Rambelles are 12-8 on the season and 4-5 in conference play.
The win over the then-second-ranked Patriots is the highest-ranked opponent the Rambelles have beaten since they walked off the Patriots 3-2 on March 25
th of last year; the Patriots were the top-ranked team in the country at the time.
The Rambelle lineup is hitting .300 as a team; they are ninth in the country with 22 home runs and lead the nation with 60 stolen bases.
Ashlyn Lerma has 28 stolen bases this season, the most in Division II. She has also drawn a conference-high 20 walks and has a .603 on-base percentage to go with a .453 batting average.
Paxton Scheurer has seven home runs this season, fifth in the country, and she has driven in 19 runs. She is slugging .723, the highest on the team.
Teammates
Lindsey Evans and
Keilei Garcia follow closely behind with six and five home runs, respectively. Evans has driven in 15 runs, while Garcia has brought home 13.
In the circle, the Rambelle trio of
Cheyenne Floyd,
Torrey Hogan, and
Genesis Armendariz own a 2.87 ERA and have struck out 122 batters in 139 innings. Opponents only hit .223 against the trio, as they've only conceded 118 hits.
Floyd has a 1.89 ERA, while Armendariz has eight wins this season and has 60 strikeouts, the third-most in the LSC.
