No. 3 Rams Down Oklahoma Christian 9-3 in Game One

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The third-ranked Angelo State baseball team opened the series against Oklahoma Christina with a victory, winning 9-3 at Dobson Baseball Field on Friday night.
 
With the win, the Rams improve to 18-3 overall and in Lone Star Conference play.
 
The Eagles took an early lead in the contest, hitting a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the first inning.
 
The Rams responded in the second as Thomas Cain stole third before scoring on a throwing error to tie the game.
 
In the top of the third, ASU added three more runs off RBI singles by Tripp Clark and Cain before Jordan Williams earned a bases-loaded walk.
 
Oklahoma Christian got one run back in the fourth, grounding out on a sac bunt to bring in a run, making it 4-2.
 
Aaron Munson started on the mound for the Rams, throwing seven innings of work with two runs off four hits while collecting a career-high 13 strikeouts which is the third most in program history in a single game. With the win, he improves to 4-0 on the season.
 
In the top of the fifth inning, Reese Johnson brought in two runs on a single to right field to extend ASU's lead.
 
Holding a 7-3 lead heading into the ninth inning, the Rams added two more insurance runs off singles by Justin Harris and Austin Beck to go up by six runs.
 
Jacob Gurrero and Cain finished with two hits each while Rohnson and Williams collected two RBIs each on the day.
 
Derek Klosowski tossed two innings in relief, allowing one hit and one run with three strikeouts.
 
The Rams and Eagles will be back at it tomorrow with a doubleheader scheduled for 2 p.m.
