VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Angelo State track & field teams concluded the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships with two top 10 finishes as the Rambelles took 10
th overall while the Rams earned a ninth-place finish at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex.
Both the Rams and Rambelles finished with 22 points in the team scores, making it the first time both the men's and women's teams finished in the top 10 at the indoor championships.
"We brought 14 kids to nationals and they are leaving with 15 First-Team trophies," said Head Coach Tom Dibbern. "I think they did a great job of capitalizing on their opportunities. When the individuals do that then the team has a chance for the success both teams had this weekend."

In the heptathlon, the Rams finished with three athletes in the top eight as
Elvis Kryukov took fifth overall with 5,466 points followed by
Simon Rey in sixth at 5,359 points, and
Kyle Lumpkins in eighth with 5,317 points. All three athletes earned First-Team All-American honors.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team also earned First-Team All-American after

Prince Frimpong,

Zykia McDaniel finished seventh at 54.93. Both athletes earned First-Team All-American honors.
The Belles' 4x400-meter relay team of Walters, McDaniel, Spence, and
Shadae Findley finished second overall with a time of 3:38.31, setting a new program record while recording the second-fastest finish in NCAA Division II history.
