SAN ANGELO, Texas – The third-ranked Angelo State baseball team picked up a nonconference win on Tuesday night, downing Southwestern 6-1 at Foster Field at 1
st Community Credit Union Stadium.
With the victory, the Rams improve to 22-3 overall on the year.
The Rams opened the scoring in the second inning as
Tyler Boggs singled to left field to bring home
Tripp Clark.
In the third innings, the Rams pulled ahead even further as Clark hit a grand slam, giving ASU a 5-0 lead through three innings of play.
Throwing on a pitch count, Derek Kloswoski started on the mound for the Rams, throwing 2 2/3 innings with one hit and four strikeouts.
Caleb Heuertz earned the victory, throwing 3 1/3 innings with no hits and four strikeouts.
The Pirates were able to get one run across in the ninth inning, leading the inning off with a double before coming around on a ground out.
Kamden Kelton finished with three hits in game while
Reese Johnson and Clark scored two runs each.
Earning a save for ASU was
Jackson Haga who threw three innings with one run on three hits to go along with two punchouts.
The Rams and Pirates will play one final game tomorrow night with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m
