SAN ANGELO – Coming off a weekend in which they went 4-2, the Angelo State softball team returns to the friendly confines of Mayer Field this weekend to host Eastern New Mexico in a three-game series.
The two teams will play each other twice on Friday, with the doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.; the series will wrap up on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Rambelles are 18-11 on the season and 10-8 in conference play.
The Rambelle offense is hitting .297 as a team and has hit 34 home runs; the Rambelles average 5.5 runs per game.
Four Rambelles are hitting over .300 on the season, led by
Ashlyn Lerma's .404 average. The senior second baseman has a .523 on-base percentage and leads the country with 38 stolen bases.
Ashton McMillan is hitting .381, while
Paxton Scheurer and
Bailey Martinez are hitting .340 and .338, respectively.
McMillan is hitting a team-best .411 in LSC play; Scheurer and
Lindsey Evans lead the team with nine home runs this season, and Martinez is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak.
The Rambelle pitching staff owns a 2.54 team ERA and an opponent batting average of .223.
Relief pitcher
Cheyenne Floyd has a 1.17 ERA, with opponents only hitting .197 off the sophomore right-hander.
Genesis Armendariz has collected ten wins this season; she has 51 in her ASU career, the seventh-most in the program's history.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
Eastern New Mexico is 16-14 on the season and 8-10 in conference play; they are coming off a series against Cameron in which they took two out of three games from the Aggies.
The Greyhounds are 2-7 on the road this season, with both wins coming in San Antonio against St. Mary's.
The Greyhounds are hitting .290 as a team and boast six players hitting over .300 on the season. They have hit 19 home runs, led by Alondra Vasquez's four.
The Greyhound pitching staff has a 3.33 ERA while holding opponents to a .267 batting average.
Brook Leger paces the Greyhound pitchers, with nine of their 16 wins coming with her inside the circle. She has a 2.11 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 89.2 innings.
