Rambelles Take Series with 4-1 Victory over Eastern New Mexico

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team claimed the series against Eastern New Mexico with a 4-1 victory on Saturday afternoon at Mayer Field.

Ashton McMillan kicked off the scoring with a solo home run to lead off the third inning, her third this season.

Ashlyn Lerma led the third inning off with a walk before scoring on a Paxton Scheurer double to right center field. Scheurer would score when the next batter, Bailey Martinez, would triple to the same place in the outfield.

The Greyhounds would push across a run in the top of the fifth; the Rambelles would respond in the bottom part of the inning with Lerma scoring on an RBI groundout.

Scheurer was the lone Rambelle to collect multiple hits, going 2-for-3.

Genesis Armendariz picked up her second win of the weekend, throwing a complete game and only allowing one run on two walks and seven hits while striking out six Greyhounds. The New Mexico native has 12 wins on the season.

The Rambelles are 20-12 on the season and 12-9 in conference play. They are back in action on Tuesday and Wednesday on the road against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
