AUSTIN, Texas – The fourth-ranked Angelo State track & field teams finished their first day of competition at the Texas Relays as
Oussama El Bouchayby set a new meet record at Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium on Thursday.
El Bouchayby crossed the finish line in the 800-meter run in 1:45.31, beating out the previous record by .51 seconds set in 2017. He finished ahead of several Power 5 competitors including Yusuf Bizimana of Texas who claimed the Division I title in Indoors earlier this year. El Bouchayby's time also ranks second all-time in Division II in Outdoors after claiming the indoor record at the national championships.
The Rams also had two athletes competing in the men's 400-meter hurdles as
Kyle Lumpkins finished 34
th with a time of 55.60 followed by
Romel Plummer in 42
nd at 56.09.
For the Rambelles,
Allison Vaughn finished 38
th in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.39 while
Anna Riccomagno took 52
nd at 1:04.49.
The Rams and Belles continue the Texas Relays tomorrow with events beginning at 9 a.m.
