Rams and Belles Win Seven Events, Collect Four Provisionals in Final Day of Trinity Invite

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams combined for wins in seven events as the Rams and Rambelles wrapped up day two of the Trinity Invitational.
 
The Rambelles swept the 400-meter hurdles with Allison Vaughn winning the event with a time of 1:04.29. Following her was Anna Riccomagno at 1:04.80 in second and Ariyah Samuels in third at 1:05.81.
 
Talena Murray earned a provisional mark in the women's javelin with a toss of 42.98m (141'-0") while Camryn Barros ( 3.50m | 11'-5.75") and Kylyie Paden (3.35m | 10'-11.75") took first and second in the pole vault.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Fatoumata Kabo, Vaughn, Riccomagno, and Samuels turned in the fastest time at 3:56.03.
 
Riccomagno also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.68 followed by Samuels in third at 14.73.
 
In the women's triple jump, Maggie Morales took third with a distance of 10.84m (35'-6.75") while Landri Sagebiel finished third in the shot put with a toss of 12.07m (39'-7.25").
 
The Rams collected three provisional marks on the day as Cason Brown won the men's discus with a throw of 51.70m (169'-7"). Also earning a provisional was Kyle Lumpkins who finished first overall in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.85m (15'-11"), while Simon Rey took second in the event at 4.70m (15'-5").
 
The third provisional mark came from the men's 4x100-meter relay team as Breylin Butler, Dorian Leda, Braden Jetton, and David Morgan combined for a time of 40.93 to win the event.
 
Morgan also finished first overall in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line at 10.69 while Romel Plummer won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.24. Earning second place in the 200-meter dash was Jetton at 21.60 and Jonathan Ramirez took third in the 400-meter run at 49.32.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Ramirez, Jetton, Plummer, and JoeMarcus Mirelas earned a second-place finish with a time of 3:19.82 while Cade Swinburn finished third in the javelin with a throw of 49.62m (162'-9").
 
The Rams and Belles will turn to the 2023 NCAA Indoor National Championships next week beginning on Friday, March 10 in Virginia Beach.
 

*Provisional Mark - An athlete who earns a provisional mark could qualify for the national meet depending on the rest of the field for that event. The approximate field size for outdoor is 20 competitors taken from a list of provisional marks in descending order.
