SAN ANGELO – Coming off their third-successive Lone Star Conference series win over Midwestern State last weekend, the Angelo State softball team faces a quick turnaround as they welcome Texas Woman's into Mayer Field for a three-game series. The first game will occur tomorrow at 6 p.m., with the series concluding on Wednesday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
The Rambelles are 14-9 on the season and 6-6 in conference play.
The Rambelle offense is hitting .309 on the season with 28 home runs; they average 5.8 runs per game.
ASU has swiped 73 bases on the basepaths, the country's highest.
Ashlyn Lerma leads the team with a .422 batting average, scoring 23 runs. She has drawn a conference-leading 21 walks and leads Division II with 33 stolen bases this season.
Paxton Scheurer is hitting .338 on the season and leads the team with 20 RBIs; she is tied for most home runs on the team with
Lindsey Evans with seven.
Since becoming the Rambelles' starting first baseman,
Bailey Martinez has been swinging a hot bat, hitting .458 at the plate and four multi-hit games. Martinez and
Ashton McMillan have been the Rambelles' best hitters in LSC play, with McMillan hitting .500 and slugging .750.
The Rambelle pitching staff owns a 2.85 ERA with 144 strikeouts in 155 innings.
Cheyenne Floyd has a 1.83 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 30.2 innings; opponents only hit .222 against the Rambelle staff.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Texas Woman's is 13-8 on the season and 7-5 in conference play; they are coming off a series win against Cameron, taking two out of three from the Aggies.
The Pioneers are led in the circle and in the lineup by Alyssa LeBlanc. The Texas A&M-Commerce transfer has a .344 batting average with seven home runs and 21 RBIs. She has a 1.97 ERA in the circle with 106 strikeouts in 67.2 innings.
The Pioneers have a 2.07 ERA as a pitching staff, and opponents only hit .240 against them.
