Evans’ Walk-off Lifts Rambelles Past Pioneers in Tightly-Contested 13-Inning Affair

SAN ANGELO – A grueling, 13-inning battle between Texas Woman's and the Angelo State softball team saw the Rambelles prevail 3-2, as the game featured a pitchers' duel between the Pioneers' Alyssa LeBlanc and the Rambelles' Cheyenne Floyd; timely hitting by center fielder Lindsey Evans delivered the Rambelles the win to open their conference series.

Evans opened the scoring in the second inning with a home run over the center field fence, her team-leading eighth of the season.

The Pioneers pushed across a run in the fourth inning to tie the game at one.

The game remained tied until the 13th inning when the Pioneers scored on a Rambelle error.

The bottom part of the inning saw Ashlyn Lerma lead off with a single before stealing second base; she would score the tying run on a Paxton Scheurer single.

Evans, the next batter, would go opposite field for a double, scoring Scheurer and winning the game for the Rambelles.

Floyd picked up her second win of the season, throwing ten innings in relief, only allowing three hits; the Pioneers' LeBlanc threw 12.1 innings, throwing 223 pitches and recording 23 strikeouts.

Evans and Scheurer collected two hits on the evening, and Keilei Garcia was the only Rambelle not to strike out against LeBlanc.

The Rambelles are now 15-9 on the season and 7-6 in conference play. They close their series against the Pioneers tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
