SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team secured two shutout victories over Texas Woman's on Wednesday afternoon at Mayer Field to claim their first Lone Star Conference series sweep of the season; the Rambelles won the opening game 6-0 before claiming game two 10-0 in a five-inning, run-rule victory.
The two teams combined to play 12 innings one day after the two teams opened the series with a 13-inning contest last night.
Game one remained scoreless until the third inning, with
Tatiana Trotter singling before stealing second. She advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a
Paxton Scheurer infield single.
Bailey Martinez led the inning off with a single, scoring on a
Maleya Burns double. Burns would be sacrificed to third before stealing home to make the lead 3-0.

Lindsey Evans led off the fifth inning by reaching on a Pioneer error; Scheurer, the next batter, would deliver her eighth home run of the season over the left field fence to make it 5-0.
Ashton Dirner led the sixth inning off with a solo home run that barely crept over the centerfield fence to finish the scoring.
Genesis Armendariz picked up her tenth win of the season, her second shutout. The junior allowed four hits and struck out four Pioneers.
The Rambelles started the scoring in the first inning of game two, with
Ashton McMillan delivering a two-out single, her first hit of the series, to open the Rambelles' account.
Burns led the second inning off with a single before swiping second and third base and scoring on a Lerma bloop single to make it 2-0.
Trotter led off the fourth inning, hustling out an infield single, and Evans drew a walk before Scheurer drove both home with a double to the left-center gap.
Scheurer would score later in the inning on a Pioneer error before Martinez wrapped up the scoring with an RBI double later in the inning.
Angelo State secured a run-rule victory in the next inning with back-to-back singles by
Layni Tanner and Lerma, and a pitch hit Evans to load the bases for Scheurer, who promptly ended the game with a grand slam over the center field fence, with the Rams winning 10-0 in five innings.
Torrey Hogan only allowed three hits while striking out three en route to her first complete-game shutout of the season.
The Rambelles are now 17-9 on the season and 9-6 in conference play. They are back in action this weekend in the Sooner State to face Oklahoma Christian, who claimed two out of three games against Cameron.
