ABILENE, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams concluded the Oliver Jackson Twilight hosted by Abilene Christian on Thursday night as the No. 6 Rams and No. 7 Rambelles collected 11 provisional marks in the meet.
For the Rams, the 4x400-meter relay team of
Prince Frimpong,
Bossman Pinkrah,
Emmett Seals Jr., and
Oussama El Bouchayby turned in their fastest time this season, taking first overall with a provisional time of 3:10.05 which ranks sixth in Division II.
Also turning in his best performance this season was
Jacobee Jones who finished second overall in the pole vault with a provisional mark of 5.22m (17-1.5") which is seventh overall in DII. Finishing fourth in the event was
Pacer Hill who hit a provisional at 4.82m (15-9.75).
Cason Brown was the top collegiate finisher in the discus, taking second overall in the event with a toss of 54.17m (177-9) to earn the provisional mark. Also finishing second overall was
Cade Swinburn who threw the javelin 48.80m (160-1).
The Rams tallied two more provisional marks as
David Morgan took sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.51 while
Joshua Body finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.76m (48-5.25).
Wes Rogers and
Bobby Hughey finished third and fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase respectively, turning in times of 10:07.17 and 10:38.43. Finishing fourth overall in the 110-meter hurdles was
Elvis Kryukov who turned in a time of 14.54.
On the women's side,
Shiean Walters and
Zykia McDaniel were the top two finishers in the 400-meter dash respectively, running provisional times of 53.73 and 53.99.
Maricia Spence turned in a provisional time in the 400-meter hurdles, taking third overall with a time of 1:02.24.
Abby Zamzow and
Allison Vaughn both earned provisional marks while finishing top five in the triple jump. Zamzow earned a third-place finish with a jump of 12.33m (40-5.5) while Vaughn took fifth with a mark of 12.02m (39-5.25).
Taking second overall in the javelin was
Talena Murray who throw a mark of 41.59m (136-5) while
Landri Sagebiel finished fourth in the shot put at 12.41m (40-8.75).
Camryn Barros earned a fourth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.68m (12-0.75) while
Mary Brown finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:53.00.
The Rams and Belles will turn their attention to the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships which are set to begin on May 4 in Lubbock.
*Provisional Mark - An athlete who earns a provisional mark could qualify for the national meet depending on the rest of the field for that event. The approximate field size for outdoor is 20 competitors taken from a list of provisional marks in descending order.
