Rambelles’ Ashlyn Lerma Earns D2CCA All-South Central Region First Team Honors

SAN ANTONIO – The postseason honors keep rolling in for Angelo State softball senior second baseman Ashlyn Lerma, who was named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-South Central Region First Team, the organization announced this morning.

This is the second all-region honor for Lerma, who was named to the NFCA All-South Central Region First Team a week ago. This is her second all-region honor from the D2CCA, who was named to the all-region second team a year ago.

This is Lerma's fifth-career all-region selection in her illustrious career.

This season, Lerma led the team with a .372 batting average and 61 hits; she currently leads Division II with 58 stolen bases.

Her 58 stolen bases tied the school's single-season stolen bases record.

Lerma was also named to the All-LSC First Team, the LSC All-Academic Team, and earned the LSC Gold Glove for her defensive work at second base, with the senior earning those awards for the third consecutive year.

The Highland Village native finishes her ASU career ranked seventh in career on-base percentage (.472), fourth in career runs scored (187), fourth in career walks (124), and second in career stolen bases (146).

She is also one of two players in ASU history to have multiple 50-steal seasons.

Lerma and all the other first-team all-region selections will now move onto the D2CCA All-American ballot; the SIDs of Division II vote on the D2CCA all-region and all-American teams.
