Angelo State Earns Highest Finish Ever in Learfield Directors' Cup Standings at 10th

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State athletic department finished the 2022-23 academic year with the highest ranking in the final LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings ever, earning the 10th overall ranking in Division II.

The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. Overall, 15 sports are counted in the final DII standings, four of which must be women's volleyball and basketball and men's basketball and baseball. The next highest (11 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.

The Rams and Rambelles had 10 teams earn points while competing in an NCAA championship this season in football, women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, women's tennis, baseball, and men's and women's outdoor track & field.

ASU collected 611.25 total points between fall, winter, and spring seasons, finishing as the second highest Lone Star Conference member. It is the second consecutive year the Rams and Belles have set a record for highest finish in the standings.
