Kingsville, Texas – The Angelo State volleyball team fell on the opening night of the LSC Crossover in five sets to host school Texas A&M-Kingsville on Thursday night inside the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center.
An evenly-matched first set saw the two teams hit nearly identical; however, the Javelinas took the set 27-25.
The Rambelles would fight back to take sets two and three; the Javelinas would take leads in the final two sets, which they converted into sets win, ultimately claiming the match.
Hannah Kinnison led all players with 21 kills, hitting .348 to lead the Belles. This is a season-high for the senior outside hitter and is her second career match in which she eclipsed the 20-kill mark.
Elsa Lamphere had 13 kills, while
Madi Parrish added in nine.
Laney Dale led all players with 32 assists, recording a double-double with 18 digs; libero
Caleigh Enax recorded her first double-double of the season and second of her career, with a match-high 24 digs to accompany ten assists.
The Belles are now 8-2 on the season and are back in action tomorrow against St. Mary's, who also lost their opening match of the LSC Crossover, doing so in four sets against UAFS.
