SAN ANGELO - Coming off their first Lone Star Conference match and win of the season, the Angelo State volleyball continues its LSC schedule this weekend when it travels to Odessa to take on UT Permian Basin on Saturday afternoon.
It was the freshman duo of
Madi Parrish and
Hannah Spencer that led the Rambelles' attack in their LSC opening win against WNMU on Wednesday night. Parrish recorded a new career-high with 13 kills while Spencer had ten kills and hit .625 for the match, not committing a single attacking error.

Kayla Baer - have assisted the Belles' attackers 662 times this season, the most in Division II.
RAMBELLES RANKS
The Belles lead the conference in assists (662), hitting percentage (.255), kills (691) and service aces (88). They rank first nationally in assists, second in kills, fourth in assists per set (13.79) and ninth in kills per set (14.40).
DALE NAMED LSC SETTER OF THE WEEK
Laney Dale was named the LSC Setter of the Week for averaging a double-double at the LSC Crossover last weekend; Dale snapped over a year-long drought for the Belles receiving a weekly conference honor, with the last time coming at the end of the 2021 season.

The Belles are 21-7 all-time against the Falcons, and head coach
Chuck Waddington is 20-6 versus UTPB. These two teams played only three weeks ago on opening weekend, with the Belles sweeping UTPB in the final match of the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational. The Belles have won the last four matchups in Odessa, dating back to 2019.
The Falcons are 9-2 on the season and are coming off a weekend in which they went 2-1 at the LSC Crossover in Lubbock.
Gloria Geurin leads the team with 2.91 kills per set while UAFS transfer Chyra Thompson leads the team with a .384 hitting percentage. Devin Alcoser and Jenna Gray are the main setters for the Falcons, averaging 4.97 and 4.45 assists per set. Defensively, the Falcons hold teams to a .136 hitting percentage this season. Libero Gabby Gregorski has recorded 25 percent of the Falcons' digs this season (142 of 568) and has recorded ten or more digs in six of the nine matches she's played in this season. Middles Thompson (1.30 blocks per set) and April Egwu (1.21 blocks per set) anchor the Falcons' defense at the net.
In these two team's first match of the season back on Sept. 2, the Belles hit .344 for the match.
Hannah Kinnison led all players with 13 kills while also hitting .667 for the match while
Evelyn Torres and
Madi Parrish had seven kills apiece.
Laney Dale assisted 27 times and
Caleigh Enax had ten digs to lead all players.
On the Falcons' side, Grace Feddern had five kills and Geurin hit .364 on four kills. Gray had 14 assists while Alcoser had 12, and Gregorski led the Falcons with nine digs.
BELLES IN THE POLLS
- The Belles are receiving 33 votes in the AVCA Top 25, the second-highest placed LSC team in the AVCA poll and just four positions out of the top 25.
- The Belles ended the 2022 season as the eighth-ranked team in the LSC standings, qualifying for the LSC Tournament. The Belles have qualified for the tournament every season under Waddington.
- The Belles were picked fifth in the LSC Preseason Poll behind West Texas A&M, UT Tyler, DBU, and Texas A&M-Kingsville.
- They are one of two LSC teams to appear in the poll, behind third-ranked West Texas A&M.
- The Belles started the 2022 season ranked 13th in the country before dropping to 23rd the following week and falling out of the poll the next week, failing to rejoin at any point during the rest of the season.
- The Belles started the 2021 season ranked first in the country off the heels of the 2021 AVCA National Championship; they spent the entire 2021 season within the top 25 of the poll.
PERSONAL BESTS THIS SEASON
- Eleven Belles have recorded at least one personal best this season.
- Setter Kayla Baer had three service aces against UAFS on Sept. 16, including two in a row that gave the Belles the lead in the fifth set.
- Setter Laney Dale recorded a pair of kills against New Mexcio Highlands on Sept. 5; she has five kills this season, exceeding her total from the 2022 season. She also set a new career high with three service aces against East Central on Sept. 9 and has five double-doubles this season.
- Outside hitter Hannah Kinnison set a career-high attacking percentage of .750 against University of the Southwest on Sept.1.
- Setter Alli Kirkpatrick assisted 26 times against East Central on Sept. 9, the most in her debut season; she also notched three service aces against Southwest on Sept. 1 and recorded eight digs against TAMUK on Sept. 14.
- Outside Elsa Lamphere hit .833 in the season opener versus Southwest, a new career-high for the senior.
- Outside hitter Madi Parrish buried 13 kills against Western New Mexico on Sept. 20. She hit .692 against Southwest, a career-high, and recorded 10 digs against St. Mary's on Sept. 15th for her first-career double-double.
- Defensive specialist Krizia Perez recorded two digs against Huston-Tillotson on Spetmeber 2nd.
- Middle Marina Sanchez had 13 kills vs. CSU Pueblo on Sept. 8, the first time she's had ten or more kills in a match in her career. She also had eight digs against the Thunderwolves, a career-high.
- Middle Hannah Spencer recorded three blocks against Henderson State on September 1st; she also recorded ten kills in her LSC debut versus WNMU; she hit .833 against UTPB on Sept. 2. She also recorded a pair of aces against St. Mary's on Sept. 15.
- Outside hitter Evelyn Torres set a new career high with 18 kills against UAFS on Sept. 16.
- Outside hitter Kamryn Williams recorded four kills each against Huston-Tillotson and Southwest; she hit .667 against the Mustangs.
RETURNING STATS
- ASU returns four starters and 12 letter winners from last year's team while adding seven newcomers, including a pair of in-conference transfers.
- Angelo State returns 79.8 percent (1052 of 1319) of its kills, 94.7 percent (107 of 113) of its service aces, 88.3 percent (1572 of 1780) of its digs, and 34.2 percent of its blocks (81.5 of 238.5) from last season's team.
