CANYON, Texas - In their first road contest of the new year, the Angelo State women's basketball team defeated West Texas A&M for the first time in Canyon since 2019, with a 70-58 victory inside the First United Bank Center Thursday evening.

The Rambelles improve to 12-4 on the year and 6-1 in Lone Star Conference play, while extending their winning streak to six games. The Lady Buffs drop to 9-6 in the year and 4-3 in conference play.

40 MINUTE RUNDOWN
- Madisen Honea got things started for the Rambelles, scoring the first basket of the game for the Blue and Gold with 7:48 remaining in the quarter.
- The Belles would not score a basket for a 4:50 minute run, allowing the lady buffs to extend the lead to seven, 12-5.
- A Jumper by Sawyer Lloyd would bring the lady Buffs lead to eight, 17-9 going into the second quarter.
- The Belles would go on a 10-5 run to bring the Buffs lead 22-20, with 5:54 remaining in the half.
- A layup by Lloyd at the 3:35 marker would tie the game 24-24.
- Keniah Williams' layup would give the Rambelles a 26-24 lead with 3:23 remaining in the half.
- The Blue and Gold would go on a 10-4 un to bring its lead to its largest to this point, 36-30, a six-point gap going into halftime.
- Lloyd would score four of the team's first six points to start the second half.
- The Belles would not allow a field goal until a layup by Gloria Fornah at the 4:09 marker.

- The Belles would keep the game out of reach for the Lady Buffs for the remaining six minutes, not allowing WT to get within ten points, defeating the Lady Buffs, 70-58.

- Lloyd scored a season-high 25 points pulled down 11 rebounds, five assists, five steals, and two blocks, earning her fourth double-double of the year.
- Madeline Stephens found herself all over the scorebook again, with nine rebounds, six assists, three blocks, two steals, and one assist.
- Briley Merket would play 25 minutes, knock down three three-pointers, and score 11 points all season highs.
- The Rambelles defense would hold the WT offense to 32 percent (20-62) shooting from the field, 21 percent (3-14) from behind the arc and 88 percent (15-17) from the free-throw line.
