Embery-Simpson Sets New Career-High with 36 Points; No. 10 Rams Fall to Chaps

Lubbock, Texas – Despite a Herculean offensive effort that saw graduate student guard Keyshawn Embery-Simpson set a new career-high with 36 points, the Angelo State men's basketball team dropped their second successive game this afternoon inside the Rip Griffin Center to Lubbock Christian, 93-89.

Embery-Simpson's 36 points are the most for a Ram in a single game since Collin Turner scored 47 points for the Rams on March 6th, 2020, with that also coming against the Chaps.

The Oklahoman's 36 points came in 37 minutes of action, where he shot 12-for-20 from the field and 7-for-13 from three-point range. He converted five of his six attempts from the charity stripe.

As a team, the Rams shot 53.2 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from three. The Rams only committed four turnovers, a season-best, as they scored 15 points off the Chaps' seven turnovers.

In a tight back-and-forth battle for all 40 minutes, the two teams were tied eight times as the lead switched hands 21 times.

Embery-Simpson was joined by a trio of teammates – Kendrick Delahoussaye, Kevon Godwin, and Carvell Teasett – in double digits, with the trio combining for 37 points.

Delahoussaye scored 14 points, a new personal best for the Louisiana native in the Blue and Gold. He only had one miss from the field and joint-led the team with five assists.

Godwin had 12 points on four made three-pointers, also assisting five times. Teasett had 11 points, going 4-for-7 from the field and 3-for-6 from three.

Trey Farrer had eight points and eight rebounds, also blocking a shot, and Willie Guy had five points and led the team with two steals.

The Rams are 12-3 on the season and 7-2 in LSC play. They continue their road trip next weekend when they travel to Wichita Falls to take on Midwestern State on Thursday.
