No. 14 Belles Return Home with Four-Set Win over Dustdevils

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team played in their first home match in over a month and confirmed the adage "There's no place like home" as they defeated Texas A&M International in four sets on Friday evening inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena.

The Rambelles dropped set one 25-23 before rebounding to take the following three sets: 25-19, 25-23, and 25-18.

The Belles used runs where they held serve in sets two and four to pull away from the Dustdevils. Ireland Ferguson held serve in set two for a 5-0 run, while Alli Kirkpatrick did the same in the final set.

Angelo State hit .290 for the match and only committed 15 attack errors, while the visitors hit .250 and made 17 errors.

Madi Parrish led the Belles with 21 kills and hit .298 for the match; she has recorded 20 or more kills in two matches this season. The sophomore also recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 digs.

Evelyn Torres had 14 kills and joined Parrish with a double-double as she had 12 digs. The graduate student has notched seven double-doubles this season.

Demi Carter joined her teammate with double-digit kills, putting away 13 kills on 29 attempts, only committing one error for a .414 attack percentage.

Setter Adeline Ortman assisted 54 times, which tied her season best in a four-set match this season. She added three kills in seven attempts, an ace, and seven digs.

Libero Caleigh Enax led the Belles with 23 digs, which ties a season-high for the senior in four-set matches. Ferguson notched a season-high 16 digs off the bench.

The Belles improve to 14-2 on the season and 4-1 in LSC play. They close their weekend tomorrow at 2 p.m. versus Texas A&M-Kingsville, who are coming off a four-set loss to Lubbock Christian this evening.
