AUSTIN – The Angelo State volleyball team opened their final regular season road trip with a sweep of St. Edward's on Friday evening inside the Recreation and Athletics Arena in Austin, winning 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.
The Rambelles hit .193 for the match and held the Hilltoppers to a .171 attack percentage.
The evenly contested match was ultimately decided at the service line. The Belles had seven aces to the hosts' two, and they made only six service errors to the Hilltoppers' nine.
Evelyn Torres recorded a double-double as she led all players with 13 kills and added ten digs. The graduate student had a pair of aces and hit .229 for the match.
Madi Parrish and
Demi Carter had eight kills; Carter only committed one error, hitting .412 and combining with
Sydney Thornton for five blocks each.
Thornton had seven kills in addition to her five blocks.
Adeline Ortman assisted 35 times and had a pair of service aces, and libero
Caleigh Enax led all players with 16 digs.
The Belles improve to 20-2 on the season and 10-1 in LSC play. This is the 12
th time the Belles have reached the 20-win mark in a season under head coach
Chuck Waddington.
The Belles close out their road schedule tomorrow afternoon against St. Mary's.
