Durango, Colo. – The Angelo State men's basketball team bounced back from their season-opening loss on Friday night to end their weekend with a win over No. 22 Fort Lewis on Saturday night inside Whalen Gymnasium on the campus of Fort Lewis.
After allowing the first point of the game, the Rams scored a basket to take a 2-1 lead and would hold onto the lead for the rest of the game.
The Rams shot 44.6 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three. The Rams also forced the Skyhawks into 19 turnovers.
Carvell Teasett led the Rams in scoring for the second game in a row, scoring 19 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point range.
Shemar Smith scored 13 points in 16 minutes, making six field goals in ten attempts.
Sterling Gaston-Chapman had nine points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Blessing Adesipe and
DJ Freeman led the Rams with five rebounds apiece; Adesipe scored seven points while Freeman scored two points and two assists as well as recording a block.
The Rams close the opening weekend with a 1-1 record. They are back in action on November 19
th when they host Arlington Baptist in their home opener.
