Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Angelo State volleyball was down but never out of their national quarterfinal match on Thursday afternoon against Gannon, bouncing back from a 2-1 set deficit to claim the match in five sets.
The win sees the Rambelles advance to the National Semifinals for the first time in program history.
The Belles took set one 28-26 before the Golden Knights took two 25-15 and three 25-17. The Belles bounced back with a 25-19 win in set four before claiming a 15-9 victory in set five.
The Belles struggled early offensively, committing 27 errors in the first three sets. However, they bounced back in the final two sets, only committing six errors and hitting .317.
Evelyn Torres led the Belles with 22 kills while hitting .258. She also had 15 digs and an ace.
Demi Carter set a new career high with 16 kills and hitting .394.
Madi Parrish joined Torres with a double-double, recording 15 kills and 16 digs.
Sydney Thornton had seven kills and seven blocks, while
Kaila Garnett added five kills and a pair of blocks over the match's final two sets.
Adeline Ortman assisted 55 times and added in ten digs. Libero
Caleigh Enax led the Belles with 24 digs, and
Ireland Ferguson added in a season-high 17 digs off the bench.
The Belles improve to 32-2 on the season. They take on the winner of Central Oklahoma and San Francisco State's tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m.
