SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team advanced in the South Central Regional with a sweep of Colorado Christian in the opening round on Friday evening inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena.
The Rambelles won sets one and two 25-22 before claiming set three with a 25-20 scoreline.
The Belles' offense was slow out of the gate, only hitting .104 in the opening set before rebounding to hit .364 in the clinching frame.
Additionally, the Belles controlled much of the match from the service line, recording eight aces to the Cougars' one.
Madi Parrish was the only player in the match to break the ten-kill mark, finishing the match with 17 kills and hitting .256. She had five digs, two blocks, and an ace as well.
Sydney Thornton recorded nine kills and hit .333, while
Evelyn Torres had eight kills, four digs, and a pair of aces.
Demi Carter added seven kills, and
Hannah Spencer contributed four in two sets.
Adeline Ortman recorded a double-double with 37 assists and 14 digs. She helped the Belles hit .205 for the match, and her 14 digs led all players.
Caleigh Enax had 13 digs and tied her career high with four aces from the back line. She also recorded four aces against Fort Lewis on September 7
th.
The Belles improve to 29-2 on the season. They are in action tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the regional semifinal as they take on DBU, with the Lady Patriots coming off a sweep of Colorado Mesa.
The other semifinal will feature a rematch of the past three regional finals as MSU Denver takes on West Texas A&M.
