Portales, N.M. – The Angelo State men's basketball team fell to Eastern New Mexico 100-79 on Thursday evening inside Greyhound Arena.
The Rams pulled out an early lead on the Greyhounds in the first half, holding a lead at 21-14 at the 12:13 mark; however, the Greyhounds rattled off a 22-0 run in the next seven minutes to turn the deficit into a double-digit lead, a lead the hosts would only build upon for the rest of the contest.
The Greyhounds were white-hot from deep, shooting 14-of-26 from beyond the three-point line.
Keyshawn Embery-Simpson led the Rams offensively with 16 points; he also had four rebounds and a team-high eight assists.
Kendrick Delahoussaye and
Kevon Godwin each had 12 points. Godwin will enter Saturday's game 18 points away from reaching the 1,000-point mark.
Shemar Smith was one field goal away from a double-double with eight points to go with a team-high ten rebounds.
Carvell Teasett also scored eight points and assisted four times.
The Rams are 14-6 on the season and 9-5 in LSC play; they close out their weekend on Saturday against Western New Mexico, who are coming off a loss tonight against UT Permian Basin.
