Rams Down Arlington Baptist 12-4 in Nonconference Play

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State baseball team picked up a nonconference win over Arlington Baptist on Wednesday, defeating the Patriots 12-4 at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
 
With the win, the Rams improve their overall record to 10-7 on the season.
 
The Patriots struck first, scoring three runs on an error for the early advantage.
 
ASU quickly tied the game in the bottom of the first inning as Jaxon Weatherly brought in two runs on a single up the middle before taking home on a double steal.
 
The Rams took the lead in the bottom of the second as Jacob Guerrero singled to score Justin Harris to make it 4-3.
 
ABU tied the game in the fourth, hitting a single up the middle to bring in a run.
 
David Dressendorfer started on the mound for the Rams, tossing 2 2/3 innings with three unearned runs on four hits while striking out four batters.
 
The Rams regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth as Tayten Tredaway singled through the right side as Harris came around for the third time.
 
In the fifth, Kannon Brooks grounded out to second base, scoring Ryder McDaniel on the play to extend the lead to 6-4.
 
Luke Spencer tossed 3 1/3 innings in relief, giving up one run on three hits.
 
The Rams pulled away in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring six runs capped off by a three-RBI triple by Tripp Clark.
 
David Stich and Jude Cook each pitched an inning in relief without allowing a hit.
 
The Rams return to Lone Star Conference play this weekend as they travel to UAFS for a four-game series beginning Friday at noon.
