No. 23 Rambelles Return Home to Host Oklahoma Christian

SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team is back home this weekend as they face another tough test, with Oklahoma Christian coming in for a three-game series. 

The series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. before closing with a single game on Sunday, starting at 1 p.m.

Between games one and two on Saturday, the Rambelles will honor their 2004 National Championship team, who are being inducted into the ASU Hall of Honor this weekend. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Rambelles dropped two out of their three games against Texas Woman's in Denton as the Rambelles wrapped up their road trip with a 1-5 record. 

The Rambelles were shut out for the first time this season in the series opener, 2-0, as they only mustered one hit against LSC Preseason Pitcher of the Year Alyssa LeBlanc. 

The Rambelles evened the series with an 8-4 win in game two, with Layni Tanner leading the team with three hits while Tatiana Trotter and Keilei Garcia each had multi-hit games, adding a home run apiece. 

The Pioneers claimed the series' final game with a 7-1 victory over the Rambelles. 

The Rambelles hit .298 as a team, averaging 5.5 runs per game. The Rambelles are second in Division II with 12 triples hit this season, which exceeds their total from a season ago. The Rambelles also rank fourth in the country, having been hit by 22 pitches this season. 

Tatiana Trotter is fifth in the LSC with 23 RBI; she also leads in the LSC with ten stolen bases this season. 

The Rambelles have a 2.23 team ERA, third-best in the LSC, and lead the league with six saves. They have struck out 133 batters in 141 innings, tops in the LSC, and opponents are only hitting .241 against the Rambelles, the seventh-best mark in the LSC. 

Cheyenne Floyd leads Division II with nine wins this season, exceeding her win total from a season ago, and is seventh in the country with 74 strikeouts. Matie Wolkow is second in the country with four saves this season.

Oklahoma Christian is 13-7 on the season and 9-3 in LSC play. The Eagles are 4-2 on the road this season, with series wins against Lubbock Christian and St. Edward's to open LSC play. 

The Eagles have won five of their past six contests, sweeping Texas A&M International on their home field last weekend before claiming two out of three games against Cameron during a midweek series. 

OC opened their season with stiff non-conference competition, going 4-4 across the first two weekends, with all four wins coming against ranked opposition; conversely, all four losses came against unranked opponents. 

The Eagles are hitting .267 as a team and average 3.3 runs scored per contest. They have a .383 slugging percentage and a .328 on-base percentage. They have struck out 54 times this season, the fewest in the LSC. Kadence Brewster leads the team with a .377 batting average, and twin sister Kiley Brewster is second with a .327 average. Aaliyah Brown leads the team with 11 runs driven in this season. 

OC's pitching staff is led by Jill Dickson, an All-LSC First Team selection as a freshman last season. The sophomore owns a 1.45 ERA and has struck out 42 batters in 58 innings; opponents only hit .192 against Dickson. Grace Anderson has made eight starts this season and has a 2.78 ERA. 

LAST TIME VS. OC
The Rambelles are 4-7 all-time versus the Eagles and 2-2 against them in San Angelo. Last season, the Eagles won two of the three games in the series, with the Rambelles' win coming on a 4-2 result that saw them win it in nine innings.

The Rambelles are on the road next weekend as they take on Eastern New Mexico on March 8-9.
