No. 20 Rambelles Travel to Austin for Series Against St. Edward's

SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team is on the road this weekend as they travel to Austin to take on St. Edward's in a three-game series.

The series will start with the two teams meeting once on Thursday at 3 p.m. before playing a noon doubleheader on Friday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Rambelles swept their series this past weekend against Western New Mexico, their first sweep in conference play in over a month.

In game one, the Rambelles scored first on Keilei Garcia's seventh home run, a solo shot to left field. Garcia would drive in another run in the fourth inning to double the Rambelles' lead. The Mustangs would strike for a run on a solo shot, but Cheyenne Floyd held them in check for the win.

Game two saw the Rambelles strike for seven runs on six extra-base hits, with five Rambelles recording multi-hit games. Tatiana Trotter homered and tripled as she set a new single-season triples record at ASU.

Floyd was back in the circle for the series finale and shut down the Mustangs, striking out seven in six innings and allowing only one hit.

The Rambelles hit .287 as a team, averaging 4.7 runs per game. The Rambelles are tied for first in Division II with 18 triples hit this season, nearly doubling their total from a season ago. The Rambelles also rank fifth in the country, having been hit by 36 pitches this season. Averie Gunther has been plunked 14 times, the second-most in the country this season.

Trotter is ninth in the LSC with 32 RBI; she leads the country with eight triples this season and was named the LSC Hitter of the Week on Monday.

The Rambelles have a 2.13 team ERA, third-best in the LSC, and lead the league with eight saves. They have struck out 197 batters in 243.1 innings, and opponents only hit .239 against the Rambelles, the fifth-best mark in the LSC.

Cheyenne Floyd is tied for first Division II with 16 wins this season, doubling her win total from a season ago, and is 21st in the country with 114 strikeouts. Matie Wolkow is third in the country with four saves this season.

St. Edward's is 10-24 on the season and 8-16 in conference play; picked to finish ninth in the LSC Preseason Poll, they currently sit 11th in the standings. They are 6-6 on their home field this season.

The Hilltoppers opened their season in Conroe, where they won over ranked opponent Rogers State; however, they would lose eight of their next nine in non-conference play.

Their lone series win in conference play came on the first weekend of March when they swept Western New Mexico. They have been swept by Eastern New Mexico and St. Mary's and have lost two out of three games in every other series. Katie Dillon leads the team with a .301 batting average and 16 stolen bases, while Megan Morris leads the team with 15 RBI.

The Hilltoppers are hitting .234 as a team, 13th in the LSC, averaging 2.3 runs per contest. They have hit a league-low six home runs this season and have drawn the fewest walks. However, they are tied for fourth with forty stolen bases this season.

Kylen Padgett leads the team with five wins and has struck out 62 batters in 93.2 innings.

Defensively, their .933 fielding percentage is last in the LSC. They have allowed 52 stolen bases, third-most in the league, and have thrown out six baserunners.

LAST TIME VS. SEU
