EMPORIA, Kan. – The Angelo State track & field teams notched two First-Team All-American honors on day two of the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships.
The Rams currently sit in 14
th overall in the team standings while the Belles are 34
th.
Mark Burdin recorded a personal best in the decathlon, totaling 7,359 points to finish fourth overall in the event and earn his first All-American honor. He recorded the second-best throw in the discus at 43.60m and the second-best performance in the shot put at 14.45m.
Also earning First-Team All-American was
Allison Vaughn who finished eighth overall in the women's triple jump, recording a personal best mark of 12.60m (41-1.25).
The seventh-ranked Rambelles advanced to the finals in the 4x400-meter relay as
Zykia McDaniel,
Fatoumata Kabo,
Kylie Frush, and
Shadae Findley set a new school record with a time of 3:35.14, finishing .01 behind the fastest time in the prelims.
In the women's discus, Tiamara Hil-Johnson took 16
th overall, tossing a mark of 43.87m (143-11) while
Anna Riccomagno collected 4,956 points in the heptathlon to finish 15
th.
Solomon Odonkor took 15
th in the men's 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 21.19 while
Antonio Blair took 17
th in the 800-meter run at 1:52.28.
The championship meet concludes tomorrow with day three. The pole vault begins at 12:30 p.m. while the running finals will start at 2 p.m.
