Canyon, Texas- The No. 21 Angelo State Rambelle softball team fell to Lubbock Christian in the quarterfinal round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament, where the Chaparrals claimed a 1-0 victory.
Tatiana Trotter singled in the bottom of the first to centerfield to find a runner on the path for the Blue and Gold but would be left stranded at the end of the inning.
The Lady Chaps scored the only run of the game in the top of the third inning with a solo home run to left field to take the 1-0 lead.
Averie Gunther drew a walk in the bottom of the frame, while Laylonna Applin singled to left field to get a few baserunners for the Rambelles but a strikeout and a popout would end the inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, Erin Plunkett led off with a single up the middle and later would steal second base for the Rambelles but LCU got out of the inning once again.
Cheyenne Floyd picked up the loss in the circle for the Rambelles, tossing seven innings of work and allowing five hits and one run, while striking out 14 and walking three batters.
The Rambelles will return to San Angelo and wait for their seeding in the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament with the selection show on Monday, May 6 at 9 A.M.
