Gunnison, Colo. – The Angelo State volleyball team was unfazed by their first trip into the highest collegiate gym in the world on Tuesday evening, leaving Paul Wright Gym (elevation: 7,723 feet) with a three-set win over Western Colorado.
The first two sets saw the Rambelles fall behind early, but they bounced back to claim sets one and two, 25-20 and 25-19.
The Belles controlled set three, completing the sweep with a 25-14 set three victory.
The Belles hit .263 for the match while holding the Mountaineers to a .133 attack percentage.
Evelyn Torres led all players with 11 kills while hitting .444 for the match and chipped in eight digs.
Kaila Garnett had ten kills and matched Torres' .444 attack percentage.
Sydney Thornton had eight kills on 11 attempts and did not commit an error for a .727 attack percentage. Her .727 attack percentage is the eighth-best mark in a match and the fifth-best in a three-set match in program history.
Madi Parrish led the match with four service aces as the Belles recorded nine as a team.
Adeline Ortman led the team with 26 assists and added two aces, while libero
Caleigh Enax led all players with nine digs.
The Belles improve to 5-1 on the season. They are back in action on Friday in Grand Junction, taking on Adams State and Cal Poly Humboldt.
