SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Rams and Rambelles cross country teams will travel to Lubbock to kick off the 2024 season at the Texas Tech Open on Friday, September 13.
The races will be run on the LCU Cross Country Course, which hosted last season's South Central Regional. The Rams and Rambelles ran on this course at the Texas Tech Open on September 15 of last year.
LAST TIME ON THE COURSE
- As a team, the Belles finished in eighth place at the Texas Tech Open with a team time of 2:06:51. Mary Brown was the second runner in with a time of 25:18.5.
- The Rams finished in 12th place with a team time of 2:30:27.
RAMBELLES
- The Belles return two runners from the 2023 season: Mary Brown and Allison Vaughn
- The Belles add six freshman and one transfer to begin the season with nine total runners.
- The Rambelles were selected to repeat last season's sixth place finish as the team accumulated 283 points and received a first-place vote.
- Mary Brown was recognized by the Lone Star Conference as a 'Runner to Watch' this season as she finished 33rd in last year's LSC Championships with a season-best time of 23:55.3 with an average mile split of 6:24.9.
RAMS
- The Rams return two runners for the 2024 season and round out the roster with six new faces to begin the season with eight total runners.
- The Rams were picked to finish in ninth place as the team received 138 points.
- Austin Souther and Tate Hughes headline the Rams' 'Runners to Watch'. Souther finished 70th overall at last season's LSC Championships with a time of 28:25.9 while Hughes' 28:46.6 placed him in 79th.
