SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team lost their first home game of the season to West Texas A&M, 81-61, on Thursday evening inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena.
The Buffs, trailing by two to the Rams at the half, could not miss in the second half, shooting 62 percent from the field and three-point range.
The Rams shot 44.4 percent from the field for the game and went 5-for-9 from three in the first half.
Carvell Teasett was the only Ram to score in double figures with 19 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field. He went 3-for-7 from three and made all four free throw attempts.
Shemar Smith scored eight points, while
Denim Dawson scored seven in 17 minutes off the bench.
DJ Freeman,
Kaden Evans, and
Jalen Gilmore scored six points each. Freeman grabbed three rebounds and three steals, also blocking a shot, while Evans led the Rams with five rebounds and four assists.
The Rams are now 9-5 on the season and 5-3 in LSC play. The Rams are back home on Saturday to take on Eastern New Mexico, which is coming off a four-point loss to UT Permian Basin in Odessa this evening.
