SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team returned home for the first time in three matches with an emphatic sweep of LSC newcomers UT Dallas, dispatching the Comets with a 25-14, 25-15, 25-15 decision.
The win is the Belles' third win in a row, and their third consecutive sweep on Dig Pink night.
The Belles' offense was firing on all cylinders, hitting .298, their highest mark in a conference match this season. The defense also held the Comets to a -.035 attack percentage, marking the second-straight match in which the Belles' opposition has been in the red.
Since the start of conference play, five of the Belles' six opponents have hit under .100.
The only adversity the Belles faced was in set two, when they were down 13-7; however,
Madison Scrivner held serve as the Belles ripped off nine-straight points to take control.
Ireland Ferguson held serve at the end of set two, with the Belles scoring the frame's final six points. After their 13-7 deficit, the Belles scored 18 of the next 20 points.
Julia Hopkins led all players with ten kills, hitting .368.
Raelee Allen followed closely behind with nine kills and an identical attack percentage to Hopkins. Allen also led all players with seven blocks.
Madi Parrish had seven kills and ten digs, and
Sydney Thornton added six kills and four blocks, hitting .444.
Taryn Barnes converted four swings into three kills.
Scrivner assisted 23 times, recording six digs and an ace; Ferguson led all players with 13 digs.
The Belles' record is now 11-6 on the season and 5-1 in LSC play. They face UT Tyler tomorrow at 2 p.m., who are coming off a sweep of UT Permian Basin this evening in Odessa.
