Richardson, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll, the conference released this morning.
The Rams, led by fourth-year head coach
Vinay Patel, tied Eastern New Mexico for the sixth spot in the poll.
Defending regional champions DBU were picked to repeat as LSC champions, receiving 42 of 51 first-place votes, tallying 850 points.
St. Mary's (two first-place votes; 724 points), Lubbock Christian (four first-place votes; 720 points), St. Edward's (669 points), and West Texas A&M (two first-place votes; 654 points) make up the top five.
Behind the Rams and Greyhounds in sixth place are Midwestern State, UT Permian Basin, and Texas A&M International to round out the top ten.
The Rams open the 2025-26 campaign on Nov. 7-9 in Billings, Montana, at the D2CCA Men's Basketball Tip-Off Classic, where they will face Nebraska-Kearney, New Mexico Highlands, and Colorado School of Mines.
The Rams open their home schedule on Nov. 14 and 15 when they host Western Colorado and Adams State as a part of the Conference Challenge.
