SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball program announces its fifth signing for the incoming 2025-26 class in Ashraf Barsham, Rams Basketball head coach
Vinay Patel announced this morning.
Barsham, a 6-foot-5 guard from Amarillo, joins the Rams following two seasons at Treasure Valley CC, a junior college in Ontario, Oregon. As a member of the Chukars Basketball program, Barsham was a two-time NWAC Defensive Player of the Year.
"We are extremely fortunate to add a player like Ashraf to our roster for the upcoming year," said Patel. "He brings a high level of energy to both sides of the floor and does the little things that help a team win."
Barsham averaged 18.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game for the Chukars last season en route to being named First Team NWAC East Region. His career-best performance saw Barsham, a product of Tascosa HS, score 35 points and grab 15 rebounds in an overtime win over Clark on March 7
th this past season in the conference tournament.
"Ash played for Coach Steve Jackson in high school. Coach Jackson is a former LSC Defensive Player of the Year himself, so we know the type of DNA that Ashraf comes from," said Patel. "He has a knack for being around the ball, and his ability to rebound will be very valuable for us this upcoming season."
As a freshman, Barsham was a Second Team NWAC East Region selection.
"Ashraf is a team-first guy who loves being in the gym. He can score in a variety of ways and knows how to use his athleticism to his advantage," said Patel. "I'm excited about his potential and confident in his ability to help our program right away. Our fans are going to enjoy watching him play over the next two years!"
