Edmond, Okla. – The Angelo State volleyball team fought hard against Oklahoma Christian inside the Payne Athletic Center, and despite fighting back to force a fifth set, the Eagles prevailed over the Belles 3-2.
The Eagles took set one 28-26 before the Belles bounced back to tie it with a 25-14 win in set two. The hosts would claim set three 25-17, and the Belles forced set five with a 25-20 victory in set four.
The Eagles hit .348 in the decisive set, compared to the Belles' .167, to walk away with the win.
The evenly contested match saw the Belles hit .249 to the Eagles' .253.
Madi Parrish led the Belles with 16 kills and 13 digs, and
Alli Kirkpatrick followed with 11 kills on a .381 attack percentage, and
Julia Hopkins added ten kills.
Raelee Allen and
Sydney Thornton had nine and eight kills, respectively.
Madison Scrivner assisted 25 times, and
Gabi Ashcraft recorded 23 helpers off the bench. Scrivner had a double-double with 11 digs.
Ireland Ferguson tied Parrish, leading the Belles with 13 digs.
Allie Duitsman had three aces from the service line, and Allen and
Cate Boldrick paced the squad with three blocks.
The Belles are 8-6 on the season and 2-1 in LSC play. The Belles close out their road trip tomorrow against Cameron, who were swept this evening by UT Permian Basin.
