ALAMOSA, Colo. – A 22-point first-half deficit proved too much to erase as the Angelo State women's basketball program opened the 2025-26 season with a 79–62 loss to Adams State on Friday in the South Central Conference Crossover at Plachy Hall.
The Rambelles struggled offensively, shooting 29.2% from the field, 26.1% from 3-point range and 56.3% at the free-throw line. Their 25 turnovers led to 29 points for the Grizzlies.
Taylor Grona and
Stevi Lockhart paced Angelo State with 12 points each. Grona added a team-high four assists and three rebounds, while Lockhart, a transfer from Lindenwood, pulled down six boards.
Senior center
Keniah Williams led the Rambelles with nine rebounds, finishing with six points and four blocks.
Addy Burns and
Briley Merket posted identical stat lines, contributing eight points, three rebounds and two assists apiece.
The Rambelles close out the crossover event Saturday night against Regis. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
