DENVER, Colo. – The Angelo State women's basketball program picked up the first victory of the 2025-26 campaign after defeating Regis 61-51 to close out the South Central Conference Crossover.
With the win, the Rambelles improve to a 1-1 record on the young season.
Both teams struggled offensively. ASU shot 36.5 percent from the field, 29.2 percent from 3-point range and 66.7 percent at the free-throw line. Regis finished at 32.2 percent overall, 26.3 percent from deep and just 40 percent at the line.
The difference came in points off turnovers. ASU scored 22 points off the Rangers' 26 turnovers, while Regis managed only 13 points from the Rambelles' 20 giveaways.
Majik Esquivel led all scorers with 23 points, hitting four of her eight 3-point attempts. The sophomore also recorded a game-high five steals and added two rebounds.
Taylor Grona added 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals, while
Landry Morrow provided 10 points off the bench, shooting 3 of 6 from the field and 3 of 5 from the line.
Senior forward
Keniah Williams anchored the interior with nine rebounds and three of ASU's seven blocks.
The Rambelles will conclude the Colorado road trip on Monday, Nov. 17, when they take on Western Colorado with the tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
