SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State volleyball team picked up its 12
th Lone Star Conference Regular Season Championship in program history on Saturday afternoon with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-22 sweep of Texas A&M International on Saturday afternoon inside the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
With the win, the Belles will be the top seed and host next week's Lone Star Conference tournament.
The Belles cruised to the win, hitting .236 to the Dustdevils' .083 attack percentage.
Madi Parrish tallied another double-double with 14 kills to go along with 10 digs. The junior outside hitter recorded an ace and was one of three Belles to record three blocks.
Julia Hopkins and
Demi Carter did not commit an error. Hopkins converted nine kills on 24 swings, and Carter's six kills came on ten swings.
Raelee Allen recorded four kills, while
Cate Boldrick,
Alli Kirkpatrick, and
Mary Johnson buried three kills each. Allen and Johnson had three blocks at the net while Boldrick led all players with four.
Gabi Ashcraft led the Belles in assists and digs with 15 and 11, respectively.
Ireland Ferguson assisted a career-high 13 times and dug out nine balls.
The Belles close the regular season with a 21-7 overall record and a 15-2 conference record. They will face eight-seed Texas A&M-Kingsville in the LSC Quarterfinals next Thursday inside the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
